Headed up to Goodna today, or West Brisbane for those who don't know the area. Rubbish was fairly scattered but Joe and Caroline filled the boat from one side of the river between there and the Moggill Ferry. 1,080kg removed. Queensland Environment funded today.

One of the most numerous items we collect is @tweedbait_official packets. We've even heard of fishing trawlers collecting thousands each year. Whilst the company should change packaging materials, it's also up to every fisher-person to dispose of responsibly. We just don't understand why they throw rubbish into the very waterways they are fishing in. We need the fishing industry to step up and help educate their clients. Cruising is coming back to Brisbane and next week

Cruising is coming back to Brisbane and next week the new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal will welcome it's first P&O Cruises Australia vessel. With so much debris still coming down the river, we're madly trying to make the entrance to Brisbane a clean experience courtesy of funding from Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd. This includes ensuring our Automatic River Cleaner 'Geoff' is playing defence to any rubbish trying to get down there. Two bulk bags full of small stuff, a pontoon and a roadside barrier were amongst today's haul by Liesbeth, Caroline, Philip and Andy.

Since the floods started at the end of February,

Since the floods started at the end of February, the OC crew and our amazing volunteers have spent 63 days cleaning and removed a staggering 75.3 tonne, including 1,940kg of polystyrene (polybergs counted only, not small pieces). That's the equivalent of 56 TOYOTA Corolla's collwcted by hand from mangroves, rock walls and beaches. So in 10 weeks we've removed half of what we did in the entire year last year. And the rivers of SE Qld still look like floating garbage tips.

The floods have seen us remove over 55 tonne of debris, and now we're recycling a boat that was pulled off the bottom. Meet our new barge. We basically bought a hull and she needs a good clean and fit out with new everything. She's 8.3m long so slightly bigger than Salter. She will live permanently in the water and service Brisbane River and surrounds. So if you want to lend a hand cleaning it up, let us know. Needs a few more hours pressure washing and then wire Wheeling and sanding hull.

Massive day out on Caboolture River. We were joine

Massive day out on Caboolture River. We were joined by @bamboo_projects and a couple of paddlers to remove a staggering 1,770kg. This included 12 tyres and lots of boat bits. Didn't make it more than a mile from the ramp. The mangroves are full of debris. It's clear to us this river has never been cleaned properly. Thanks to all the crew for a massive effort.

Last day of Easter Holliday. We had a boat full of volunteers out in the Brisbane river. We crawled through the mangrove systems and removed 4 bulk bags of pure plastic and polystyrene. Thank you all involved for your efforts.

18th day on Brisbane River and despite what the government say, the river is not clean. Filled the boat in 150m. Thanks to our amazing volunteers and
@energex_au for todays funding. NB: apologies to @annastaciamp, it was @camerondickmp who claimed the river was clean. Same government though!

You can never question the passion of our voluntee

You can never question the passion of our volunteers. Bulimba Creek is notoriously muddy and today's clean up for Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee (B4C) was no exception. We've just spent 2 days plucking plastic bags off mangrove trees that get stirred up by flood waters. We need to get them before they disintegrate and fall back into the water. Meanwhile Salter helped us remove 5 massive insulated panels before heading back to Brisbane River. The pile of rubbish is growing. We've chosen to leave it on council land as that's where it came from. One day councils will take responsibility for debris washed from their land into state waterways!!!
