2025 Clean Up Flotilla – by Oroton

Cruising & Cleaning in Company

Thanks to the legends at Oroton, the 2025 Clean Up Flotilla is all systems go. We will depart Mackay Harbour on Monday 8th for Brampton Island and spend a day cleaning there before heading to the Sir James Smith Group till the end of the week. Join us as we clean beaches & enjoy sundowners each day.

Schedule

  • 8th Sept – Sail to Brampton
  • 9th Sept – Clean Brampton & Carlisle
  • 10th onwards – Sir James Smith Group

Daily plan

  • Clean Beaches with a focus on Southern facing shores morning and early aftenoon
  • Sundowners on beach in late afternoon

Details

An informal flotilla of likeminded people who care for their cruising grounds. No set schedule, no set timing.

We will have our landing barge running in support so if we can’t anchor on southern shores, we will run you around in barge.

We supply the bags and our barge will take the debris away.

What will we find

In 2020 we removed over 2 tonnes of debris

Having visited the islands on the way home from Airlie last year we were overwhelmed with the amount of debris

Plan ahead for 2026

Plans are already being made for a much bigger event in 2026. Departing Gladstone after Easter, we will cruise in company all the way up to the tip of Australia, cleaning as we go.
