Hey legend, it’s https://TrashMap.org launch day!

Did you spot some rubbish or an illegal dumping site somewhere? A dirty beach or a littered nature area? Wish somebody would just deal with it?

At Ocean Crusaders we’re building a digital platform TrashMap.org that allows anyone to quickly and easily tag a location that needs to be cleaned. Use your phone, drop a pin, snap a photo, report it and we’ll notify the relevant city council and community groups.

Our vision is to connect individuals, community groups and city councils across Australia so that we can tackle the trash problem together.

Check out the company EcoPlas Australia - Plastic Recycling. They are receiving our first shipment of granules to repurpose. Whilst this is fantastic to see an Australian company using australian debris, this shipment is 675kg of plastic, which works out at approximately 270,000 caps. So that is just 10% of the caps that will be used in South East Queensland today. We need more companies to start to use recycled materials in Australian made products to absorb the constant influx of plastics to our country...or we can stop buying overseas plastics!!!

We went to clean Pannikin Island today. Drove past lots of debris on Lagoon Island but will get that Saturday. Then as we passed Long Island I saw something so went to investigate. We couldn't pick up that pontoon but we filled the boat. Huge thanks to Troy for the assist. Another 1180kg removed and we've only just begun. Funding today was provided by Healthy Land and Water through the national Landcare program.

We have removed over 800kg of rubbish from these beautiful beaches and are continuing to do so for the next two weeks.

There are still spots left for next weekend’s beach cleanup with accommodation at Beachcamp Eco Retreat on K'gari - Fraser Island. Grab a ticket while you can!

Our Caps Crusade program is going strong!
We recently had our first scheduled pickup from Brisbane and Surrounds Public Collection Points and received over 220kg of cleaned and sorted bottle caps. Such amazing work from all the collectors and schools who are involved!

The health of our oceans and marine life is at the core of everything we do at Ocean Crusaders. With bottle caps constantly showing up during our cleanups, we have made part of our mission to get them out of the environment and into useful products. We encourage people to collect their used bottle caps and drop off at one of our Collection Points for recycling.

Huge thanks to Olivia and Wendy who dodged the rain perfectly to pull 540kg of stuff out of Luggage Point. The water tank and several other large HDPE items were saved for #zeroco packaging in the future. Thanks to the Federal Government's Landcare program for funding today through #healthylandandwater
